Weigel’s Debuts New Mascots, Ellie the Cow and Dippy the Chicken, Bringing Personality to Every Aspect of the Brand
Knoxville, TN —Weigel’s Debuts New Mascots! Weigel’s is thrilled to announce the official debut of our beloved mascots, Ellie the Cow and Dippy the Chicken, marking a new era for how we connect with our customers. Traditionally, mascots have been used by convenience stores for events and special appearances, but Weigel’s is taking this a step further. Ellie and Dippy will become integral parts of our brand across all platforms—from in-store experiences to social media and even commercials—creating engaging content that truly embodies the Weigel’s spirit.
Expanding the Role of Mascots
“We’re not just limiting Ellie and Dippy to traditional store appearances; we’re bringing them into the everyday life of Weigel’s in fun and creative ways,” said Nick Triantafellou, Director of Marketing & Merchandising at Weigel’s. “These characters represent more than just a fun face for our customers. They symbolize the values we hold—quality, care, and connection—and will be showcased in ways that make them part of the Weigel’s team.”
Engaging Marketing Outreach Featuring Ellie and Dippy
As Weigel’s debuts new mascots, part of this new strategy is Ellie and Dippy starring in a fresh line of commercials, which premiered last night, paying homage to the iconic This is ESPN series. These commercials bring a humorous twist to Weigel’s office life, showing Ellie and Dippy interacting with real employees as if they were part of the daily team. Whether attending team meetings, grabbing coffee, or having fun at the water cooler, Ellie and Dippy will also be joined by Weigel’s NIL athletes Karlyn Pickens and Hunter Ensley, who make special guest appearances. From on-campus stars to office collaborators, this partnership highlights Weigel’s innovative use of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) to bring our brand to life. Each commercial closes with the tagline: “This is Weigel’s.”
In addition to the commercials, customers can expect Ellie and Dippy to pop up regularly on Weigel’s social media channels, sharing everything from promotions and store updates to behind-the-scenes content that brings fans closer to the brand. Creating a Lasting Impact
“We want Ellie and Dippy to be more than just faces for events; we want them to have their own personalities that our customers can engage with daily,” Triantafellou added. “By integrating them into our social media and advertising, and including our NIL athletes in the fun, they become ambassadors of the Weigel’s experience, reminding people that there’s always something fresh, fun, and uniquely local happening at Weigel’s.”
The introduction of Ellie and Dippy aligns with Weigel’s mission to build deeper community connections and create a memorable customer experience that goes beyond the traditional convenience store visit.
Stay tuned for more exciting appearances from Ellie and Dippy across all our platforms. This is just the beginning of what will be a fun-filled journey with Weigel’s newest (and furriest) team members.
